SWARM MMO

Getting Started

A short overview of the game for new players.

Press Play and you spawn with one home planet surrounded by neutral ones. Every planet you own makes probes over time, and probes are how you take more planets. Production runs on the server, so it continues, and your planets stay attackable, whether or not your browser is connected.

Your first moves

  1. Take the neutrals. Drag from your home planet to a neutral one and send probes. Every planet you take adds to your production, so expand early.
  2. Watch your borders. Other players spawn near you. Planets changing colour around you mean someone is expanding in your direction. The galaxy you spawn in is closed to attack from other galaxies for its first 3 days, but the players spawning alongside you inside it are not.
  3. Upgrade. A level-10 planet makes ten times what a level-1 planet makes. Upgrade the planets you intend to hold.

Quests

Three one-off quests sit in the bottom-left corner and cover those first moves. Each pays 10 credits once, and the panel disappears when all three are done.

  1. Conquer a planet. Own a second planet alongside your home planet.
  2. Upgrade a planet. Take any planet to level 2.
  3. Conquer a sun. Send at least 100 probes at a sun; every 100 becomes 1 super-probe on arrival (see Suns).

Quest credits work on a guest account. Spending credits needs a verified email (see Credits & Cosmetics).

Tips

Each time the game loads, one tip is drawn at random and shown in the middle of the screen. Next tip steps through the rest, Close puts it away until the next load, and Don't show again stops it for good. The checkbox in the Account panel turns it back on.

Losing everything

Losing every planet you hold does not end the game. A popup offers Restart for a fresh home system as soon as you have nothing left, and the Account panel's own Restart is there any time before that. Either way keeps your username, colour, credits, tech and prestige.

How you win

Every galaxy has a black hole at its core. Take every sun in the galaxy, capture the black hole, stockpile 1,000 megaprobes there, and collapse it.

A collapse destroys the whole galaxy, your own holdings included, and permanently raises the energy every sun you own produces. Black Holes has the path; Prestige has the reward.
