Games like Auralux
The same arithmetic of units against units, on a map that never resets.
Auralux strips real-time strategy down to very little: suns produce units, units wait around their sun until you send them somewhere, and when two colours meet they cancel out one for one. Swarm MMO plays by nearly the same arithmetic. What it changes is the size and lifetime of the map.
Side by side
| Auralux | Swarm MMO | |
|---|---|---|
| Producers | Suns, upgraded by feeding them units | Planets, upgraded with probes up to level 10 |
| Combat | Units cancel one for one | Probes cancel, adjusted by technology |
| Map | Fixed levels | One persistent shared galaxy |
| Opponents | AI on most maps | Other players |
| Length | Minutes per level | No rounds, but a galaxy still ends |
| Progression | Levels unlocked | Energy, technology and prestige on your account |
| Offline | Game paused | Production and automation continue |
What the persistence changes
An Auralux level rewards tempo: commit early, take the neutral suns, and the level is decided in a few minutes. In Swarm MMO the neutrals still go to whoever arrives first, but nothing ends when they are gone. Planets have no capacity and nothing decays, so a stockpile is a real asset, and a planet at the top level keeps producing 10 probes a minute for as long as you hold it.
A tie goes to the defender, so taking a planet needs its garrison plus one, counted at arrival rather than at launch. When you drag from a single planet, the send dial works that number out for you.
Suns work differently here. Nothing orbits them waiting for orders: probes sent at a sun convert into super-probes at 100 to 1, and a sun you hold pays energy that buys technology.
What Swarm MMO does not have
- No levels or puzzles. There is one live map and no designed scenario.
- No AI opponents. Every opponent is a person.
- No short match. A visit can be brief, but the game itself runs for days.
Auralux and Galcon are the better choice for a self-contained game that finishes inside a bus ride.
Getting started from Auralux
Take the neutrals fast, as you would in a level, then stop spending everything. Upgrading is where the long game is: 100 × level² probes buys a level, so 100 for level 2 and 400 for level 3, and the planets you intend to hold are the ones to upgrade.

Questions
Is Swarm MMO like Auralux?
The combat arithmetic is close: units from different sides cancel out, and whoever has more left holds the target. The map is a persistent galaxy shared with other players instead of a fixed level against AI.
Can I play Swarm MMO offline?
No. Every planet is on a shared server map, so it needs a connection. Your planets do keep producing while you are disconnected.
Is Swarm MMO multiplayer in real time?
Yes. Every player in a galaxy acts at the same time, and a defender can reinforce a planet while the swarm heading for it is still in flight.
How long does a game of Swarm MMO take?
There are no matches. A galaxy lasts until someone collapses its black hole or it goes unstable from day 14, and your account carries on into the next one.
