Games like Galcon
The same gesture, on a galaxy shared with everyone instead of a private match.
Galcon is the game that fixed the gesture: drag from a planet you own to one you want, and a share of what is sitting there flies over and fights. Swarm MMO uses the same gesture. What it changes is everything around it, which is a match rather than a mechanic.
Side by side
| Galcon | Swarm MMO | |
|---|---|---|
| Core order | Drag between planets | Drag between planets |
| Length | A match, minutes long | No rounds, but a galaxy still ends |
| Opponents | A handful, or AI | Everyone in the galaxy at once |
| Map | Generated per match | One shared spiral galaxy, and more as they fill |
| Capacity | Planets cap out | No cap, and nothing decays |
| Progression | None between matches | Energy, technology, prestige on your account |
| Offline | Match ends | Production and automation continue |
| Winning | Hold the map | Collapse a galaxy's black hole |
What the persistence changes
In a match there is no such thing as saving up. Everything you have is either committed or wasted by the time the match ends. Swarm MMO has no capacity limit and nothing decays, so a planet can hold a stockpile indefinitely and waiting is a real strategy. A level-10 planet adds 10 probes a minute to that pile, every minute, whether or not you are there.
It also changes what a mistake costs. A lost match is over in minutes; a lost border is something you live next to. That cuts both ways, because a neighbour who overextends is a border you can move for the rest of the week.
Suns and black holes have no Galcon equivalent. A sun pays energy, energy buys technology, and probes sent at a sun convert at 100 to 1 into super-probes on arrival. Super-probes convert again at 100 to 1 into megaprobes at a black hole, and 1,000 megaprobes on a black hole you hold lets you collapse the galaxy.
What Swarm MMO does not have
- No matches. There is nothing to queue for and no lobby. You spawn into the live map.
- No AI opponents. Neutral planets have garrisons, but nothing plays against you on purpose except other people.
- No single-player campaign or puzzle mode.
- No fixed match length. If you want a game that finishes inside a tram ride, this is the wrong shape.
Auralux and Eufloria are the closest games that keep the short, self-contained form. Galcon itself is still the cleanest version of it.
Getting started from a Galcon habit
The muscle memory transfers directly, and two habits need adjusting. Expand harder than a match would reward, because every planet you take compounds for as long as you hold it. And upgrade, which has no Galcon equivalent: 100 × level² probes buys a level, so 100 for level 2 and 400 for level 3, and a higher level is a permanently higher rate rather than a one-off gain.

Questions
Is Swarm MMO the same as Galcon?
The core order is the same: drag from your planet to a target and a share of your probes flies over. The difference is that the map is persistent and shared rather than a match, so production, upgrades and territory carry on between sessions.
Are there short matches in Swarm MMO?
No. There are no rounds and no lobby. A galaxy does eventually end, collapsed by a player or left to go unstable, but a new one spawns right away and a visit itself can be as short as you like.
Do planets cap out like they do in Galcon?
No. There is no capacity limit and nothing decays, so a planet can sit on an arbitrarily large stockpile. That makes saving up a genuine option rather than a waste.
Can I play Swarm MMO against AI?
No. Neutral planets hold a garrison and have to be taken, but every opponent that acts against you is another player.
